About the Album:
This album was recorded in Calgary in 1984. Eddie Dietrich wrote the fiddle parts, and Myron, Eddie, and I played them. It was a fun experience and actually our first attempt at a polished product. It took a few months to record, and the hard work shows in the grooves. The single Crazy People got serious chart action in both Canada and the US on the indie charts, and thanks to the financial contribution by Glenn Fraser, we got some much-needed promotion, which led to bigger and better gigs in the US and Europe.

This was much like an early Buck Owens project, in that the vocal features included a song by drummer Rick Ament (You're the Reason) and Redd Volkaert (She Delivers). The tune Calgary, May 5, 1972, was inspired by a playing trip to the US, where our banjo man was turned away at the border because of an earlier pot conviction. A few months later, he was issued a pardon and continued to tour the US with us. It was during this time that we were doing a lot of work in Tennessee, and a lot of custom sessions at Big Mama's Studio in Knoxville. The cover art was done by a noted Canadian artist named Phil Bristowe and earned a nomination for album cover of the year.
