About the Album:
Recorded live at the Edmonton Field House
at the world's largest dance, held each year by the University of Alberta
Aggies. This event was once in the Guiness Book of World Records. It was a
"dry" dance. That meant that the only alcohol consumed was what the
audience could sneak in. Cops stood at the entrances, confiscating booze,
and dumping it in huge garbage cans. The crowd still managed to get
smashed as the band played, non-stop, from nine to midnight. In 1974, we
had 10,760 through the door. People had lined up since two in the
afternoon, and when the security people tried to close the doors
after the event reached capacity, the remaining people rushed the gate and
a fairly serious melee ensued. We played this event for seven years in the
seventies. It is now limited to 2500, and is licensed...not nearly as
wild. |
